JOSEPHINE BALTZERSEN
ANNE, HANNAH & EMILY
3D-printed figurines, paint, staircases, 2021
An insight into three unusual female characters from the early 19th century. Anne Lister, Hannah Cullwick and Emily Brönte all stood out from society by their ambitions, behaviour and attitudes to gender, sexuality and power relations. The characters comment on the absence of representation of strong female personalities in contemporary children's toys.
